View Accounts

Easy Books iPhone Double Entry Accounting AppFrom the main screen, tap the Accounts icon to show the list of accounts. You can view all the accounts for the current business.

Each account is grouped under standard accounting categories such as Bank accounts, Direct expenses, Income from Sales and so on. The total value of the category is shown as well, which is useful if you have lots of bank accounts, as it shows the total balance.

The current balance of each account is shown on the right together with a small arrow in a blue circle. This icon is the detail information icon. For Easy Books, tapping on the icon will show the settings available for that account (see Account Settings).

Viewing Transactions

Tapping on the name of the account brings up a list of transactions for that account. Initially there won't be any transactions listed, and you will add them gradually as you pay for things, or make sales. Transaction lines are colour coded, green for sales, and transfers from customers, red for expenses and transfers to suppliers. There are other colours too, and the general idea is to make the transactions easier to find; if you're looking through a bank account trying to find a payment from a customer, you should be able to spot the green lines and ignore the others.

As an example, the MBNA credit card we use shows the things we buy in red (expenses) and the payments from the bank account in white/neutral. In the example, it shows a purchase of an asset, which is strictly speaking not an expense. This is shown in purple.

Note the amounts are shown along with the cumulative balance at that point in time. The colour of the amount is also significant:

Blue - The transaction line can be edited freely
Black - The transaction appears on a statement, and therefore parts of it cannot be changed
Grey - The transaction is dated before the last P&L consolidation or VAT Return and cannot be altered.
